Product Details

Frankincense resin has been used in many healing traditions from the Asian and African Herbal Traditions to Ayurvedic Medicine. The resin can be used as a natural chewing gum.

The practice of chewing botanicals and resins is at least 9000 years old. Gums and resins such as Frankincense provide a natural solution to the health and hygiene of teeth and gums. Frankincense resin is extremely versatile and makes a wonderful daily tonic as a tea or as a gargle.

Suggested Use

Add a few pieces of Frankincense Resin to your water bottle. Do not eat the resin, simply drink the frankincense flavored water.
Add a squeeze of lemon or freshly grated ginger. Frankincense tea should rarely be used. Frankincense resin can be used to make a soothing and protective gargle or effective mouth wash for oral health, particularly for irritated gums.
Combine 1-2 tablespoons of whole resin or ½ teaspoon of ground Frankincense powder to ½ cup of hot water. Cool and discard the resin (if using whole pieces) and use the liquid as a gargle. The resin is traditionally used as a chewing gum. Chew 1-3 pieces of resin as a gum.

Frankincense will not disintegrate like conventional gum and holds its shape for many hours. Do not swallow. If you have sensitive teeth, the resin may be too hard for chewing. Soak the resin in water for an hour and chew but do not swallow the resin. Frankincense resin can also be used topically.
Grind the resin and combine 1-2 teaspoons of powder with fresh aloe vera and apply as a poultice to eczema or other skin irritations.
Avoid contact with the eyes.

(Please be aware that when grinding the resin into a powder in a coffee grinder, the powder will be sticky and so the coffee grinder will have a sticky coating that will be difficult to clean).
